Community Foundation "Play-Along" with the South Bend Symphony
As past of the annual Community Foundation Performing Arts Series, the Community Foundation hosts a "Play-Along" for local musicians as part of the South Bend Symphony Orchestra's concert at the Chris Wilson Pavilion in Potawatomi Park. This event, which uses festival adaptations of famous works specially commissioned for the event by the Foundation, is free and open to all local musicians. Past pieces have included Beethoven's "Ode to Joy," Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture," Verdi's "Anvil Chorus," and Rossini's "William Tell" Overture. Traditionally, the "Play-Along" is held on the evening of either the third or fourth Saturday in August. Between 40 and 60 musicians participate annually.
Because of the popularity of this event, musicians who wish to perform in the Play-Along will need to pre-register through the Community Foundation's website. Also, they must commit to attending two rehearsals prior to the concert. Pre-registration for the 2018 "Play-Along" will open in May 2018. If you have questions, contact Laura Moran Walton at the Community Foundation.
The Play-Along is made possible by the Community Foundation's ArtsEverywhere Fund and the Marjorie H. Wilson Charitable Trust Fund.
