Community Foundation Announces 2017 Play-Along with SBSO
Community Musicians Can Join Symphony for "Emperor Waltz," August 19
Once again, the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County has partnered with the South Bend Symphony Orchestra to create an opportunity for community musicians to perform with the SBSO. As part of the Symphony's August 19 concert for the 2017 Community Foundation Performing Arts Series, community musicians can join the SBSO to perform Kaiser-Walzer, Op. 437 (the “Emperor Waltz”), by Johann Strauss II. The concert will take place in the Chris Wilson Pavilion in South Bend's Potawatomi Park, as in past years. This free event is open to all community musicians. To participate, musicians must register using our online registration form, and commit to two mandatory rehearsals.
Additional details about the performance are available here.
Arranged by Jerry Lackey, this version of the “Emperor Waltz” was commissioned by the Community Foundation and is free to download and print. All the parts are available for download in .pdf format on our website. Multiple parts are available for some instruments; musicians may choose whichever part they wish to perform.
