Community Foundation Hosts Free Seminar on Upcoming FLSA Changes
Focuses on Impact of New Overtime Laws on Nonprofits
The Community Foundation of St. Joseph County is hosting a free one-hour presentation for nonprofit organizations on the new Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) that goes into effect on December 1, 2016. This new act updates the regulations that define the right for employees to receive overtime pay. In many cases, the minimum salary required to qualify workers as “exempt” has doubled, potentially extending their right to overtime pay.
Presenter Michael Hays, partner and attorney with Tuesley Hall Konopa, will help nonprofit organizations understand the potential impact of this new law, including the legal and financial risks of noncompliance. This seminar is suitable for executive directors, financial officers, and human resources staff at nonprofit organizations.
The event will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016, from 10:30–11:30 a.m. in the Humphreys Room at the St. Joseph County Public Library in downtown South Bend. There will be time for questions and answers immediately following the event.
If you plan to attend, RSVP to Amy Butcher at the Community Foundation by email or by phone at (574) 232-0041.
