March 1 Deadline for Grant Applications, Scholarships

IAC and Special Project grants, Charles Martin and Laidig scholarships, scholarship renewals

Thursday, March 1, 2018, is a big day for deadlines at the Community Foundation, with several grant and scholarship deadlines sharing the date.

GRANT DEADLINES INCLUDE:

Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) grants, which are awarded through the Regional Initiative Grant (RIG) program. The IAC’s Regional Initiative Grant program provides funding in order to ensure all Indiana citizens have access to quality arts and cultural activities. These grants are available to qualifying nonprofit organizations through a competitive application process administered by the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County. Nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations, or public entities with eligible arts programming and addresses in Elkhart, Fulton, Kosciusko, Marshall, St. Joseph, and Starke counties are eligible to apply for funding. All applications must be submitted through the IAC’s online application system no later than 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018. For more information, contact Kayla Myers at (574) 232-0041.

Community Foundation Special Project Challenge Grants, which encourage projects in areas that address community development and urban affairs; health and human services; parks, recreation, and environment, and youth and education. The Community Foundation offers these matching grants to assist public and other 501(c)(3) agencies in their efforts to serve community needs. Special Project Challenge Grant applications must be received by the Community Foundation no later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018. SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINES INCLUDE:

The Charles Martin “Touch a Life” Scholarship, which provides academically motivated African-American students from St. Joseph County with a $2,500 stipend for serving a summer internship with a community nonprofit organization and a $5,000 annual scholarship

The Jon and Sonja Laidig Community Service Scholarship, which provides students from St. Joseph County with a $2,500 stipend for serving a summer internship with a community nonprofit organization and a $5,000 annual scholarship

To apply for either of these two scholarships, students must complete the 2017–18 General Scholarship Application, available at www.cfsjc.org/scholarships. Completing the General Scholarship Application will also make students eligible for other Community Foundation scholarships.

Scholarship renewal applications are also due on March 1.
