6:00 pm EDT

The South Bend Symphony Orchestra and the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County present the Chris Wilson Playalong Concert, “The Last Night of Proms”, on Sunday, August 18 at 6 p.m. at Chris Wilson Pavilion at South Bend’s Potawatomi Park.

This event is free to attend. Bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating. In case of rain, the concert will move indoors to Adams High School Auditorium. The event will be professionally amplified and lit by EventSys.

The Community Foundation Performing Arts Series is sponsored by the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County’s ArtsEverywhere Fund, the Marjorie H. Wilson Charitable Trust Fund, and the Indiana Arts Commission. South Bend Venues, Parks and Arts is a key partner. WVPE-FM 88.1 is our broadcast partner for the August 18 event.

The Play-Along with the Symphony is part of its August 18 concert at the Chris Wilson Pavilion at South Bend’s Potawatomi Park. This free opportunity is open to all community musicians who would like the chance to perform with a professional symphony under the baton of Music Director Alastair Willis. The Play-Along portion of the concert will include two pieces: Edward Elgar’s “Nimrod” from his Enigma Variations and Camille Saint-Saën’s “Danse Bacchanale” from Samon and Delilah. This year, the Play-Along has a new enhancement: Each orchestral part for the Play-Along pieces will be available in Basic and Advanced formats. This will help to ensure that community musicians of all skill levels are able to enjoy their experience.

To participate in this free event, community musicians must commit to two mandatory rehearsals.

Register and learn more about how you can join the playalong here.
