The state of Indiana launched the 21st Century Scholars program in 1990 to help low-income young Hoosiers earn college degrees. For students who qualify, the program provides up to four years of undergraduate tuition at Indiana colleges or universities. Here in St. Joseph County, the Community Foundation is leading a team of 30+ partners in K-12 education, higher education, economic development, and social services in an effort to INCREASE the number of local students who complete degrees through this program AND secure good-paying jobs in the region.

21st Century Scholar Success Fest is part of that effort!

This is a free event for:

  • 7th and 8th grade students and parents who want to learn more about the program and/or enroll
  • High school students who need to complete required steps to earn their 21st Century Scholarships, and
  • ANY students who are interested in summer job opportunities!

It will include free, on-site opportunities to complete up to SEVEN required program (SSP) steps, an employer fair, a local college fair, and program representatives from INvestEd, IN Commission for Higher Education, and Padres Estrellas, who can help with ScholarTrack, financial aid, FAFSA, and more. We’ll also have current 21st Century Scholars onsite who can answer any questions students have. Drop in any time between 9 a.m. and noon. Students, pre-register in advance, and you could win one of six $25 VISA gift cards!
