Buechner Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY:
  • Be a St. Joseph County resident
  • Be a current licensed teacher working in St. Joseph County, Indiana
  • Intend to pursue a full-time graduate course of study at Indiana University South Bend in either the MSEd Unified Track Elementary and Secondary Education, or MSEd Education Leadership programs
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and satisfactory academic progress
  • Demonstrate financial need by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
AWARD:
  • Scholarship amount to be disbursed each semester (summer, fall and spring semesters) is based on enrollment at $1,000 per three credit class ($350 per 1 credit). Additionally, students will be awarded a $500 book stipend each semester when they are enrolled in at least 4 credit hours. Annual scholarship disbursements will not exceed $10,000 per academic year. The award cannot exceed the cost of tuition and mandatory fees for any session in which the scholarship is received.

RENEWABILITY:
  • The scholarship is renewable upon submission of the Community Foundation’s renewal application each February 15 and if the above criteria are met. Scholarship funds can only be used for required courses in the approved IU South Bend Education MSEd programs.

  • To apply for this scholarship, students will need to complete the online CFSJC Scholarship Application available in December and due February 15.
