Community Foundation Awards Nearly $1 Million in Special Project Grants
St. Joseph County is a great place to call home — but not everyone has it so easy. That’s why the Community Foundation is proud to support the local organizations working to lift up those on the margins. This spring, the Foundation awarded nearly $1 million in Special Project Grants to seven area organizations. Among the largest recipients was St. Margaret's House, which will use its $250,000 award as part of its ongoing capital campaign.

21st Century Scholar Success Initiative Makes Strides
As graduates across St. Joseph County prepare to shift their tassels across their mortarboards, there's a lot to celebrate. For decades, Indiana’s voter turnout has lagged far behind the national average and ranks consistently in the bottom ten. If it wasn't for West Virginia, Indiana would have finished dead last during the most recent mid-term elections. The problem is clear: Too many Hoosiers are unengaged and ill-informed when it comes to our elections. New Day Intake Center Receives $250,000
New Day Intake Center launched in 2020 with an audacious goal: To end chronic homelessness in South Bend. And now, as New Day moves forward with its low-barrier facility on Old Cleveland Road, it feels like they're closer than ever before. We Took a Sneak Peek at the Dream Center
On the anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., hundreds of people gathered on the westside for celebration, remembrance, and most of all, a sneak peek of the brand new Martin Luther King, Jr. Dream Center. The shining new community center is a victory for the westside of South Bend, one proudly supported by $150,000 from the Foundation's African American Community Fund (AACF). Read More
