Community Foundation Announces 2019 Currier Scholar

Scholarship Covers Tuition, Fees, Books, and Housing for Nicholas Casetti

Nicholas Casetti

The Community Foundation of St. Joseph County has selected Nicholas Casetti (Penn High School, 2018) as the 2019 recipient of the Donald C. and Marion E. Currier Scholarship. This highly competitive award provides recipients with up to full tuition, required fees, an allowance for books, and on-campus housing or an off-campus living allowance for up to six semesters at Purdue University. Valedictorian of his class at Penn, Casetti has since gone on to excel within the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University.

Past recipients Ryan Craker (Penn High School, 2015), Alexis Marks (Penn High School, 2017), and Hannah McGinness (Penn High School, 2017) also had their Currier Scholarships renewed.

Donald C. Currier was awarded a degree with distinction from the Purdue University School of Mechanical Engineering on June 15, 1926, graduating first in his class.  Seventy-three years later, his wife Marion established this major scholarship fund in his memory to benefit students from St. Joseph County, Indiana.

This scholarship is available to students starting their sophomore year and beyond who are officially accepted into any of the engineering programs, with the exception of Engineering Education, from the Purdue University School of Engineering. The deadline for application is June 15 of each year; applications are available through the Community Foundation’s website: www.cfsjc.org/scholarships.
