HealthLinc Celebrates Mishawaka Expansion
Expanded clinic will increase healthcare access for patients across St. Joseph County
Melissa Mitchell recognizes that it’s not always easy for families to make healthcare decisions. There are too many hurdles – financial obstacles, administrative red tape, accessibility problems in too many communities.
Mitchell, CEO at HealthLinc, hopes to address all of those problems with facility expansions and improvements at the organization’s Mishawaka clinic.
Supported by a $250,000 Special Project grant, the expansion creates dedicated space for women’s health, behavioral health, chiropractic care, and optometry. All told, HealthLinc expects to be able to add 14,000 visits and 4,600 patients in 2026 thanks to their increased capacity.
The new space will also allow them to reduce the amount of time it takes for new patients to see a provider.
As a Federally Qualified Health Center, HealthLinc provides care to underserved populations regardless of their ability to pay, and now, they’ll be able to serve more people than ever before.
