Meissner Receives 2020 Leadership South Bend/Mishawaka Award

Alumna of Leadership Class 20

Leadership South Bend/Mishawaka has announced that Rose Meissner, president of the Community Foundation and a member of Leadership Class 20, is the organization’s 2020 Distinguished Alumna. Kristine Hilger, executive director of Leadership, says that Meissner exemplifies the organization’s values as a true “leader of positive change.”

“At a time when we need to count every blessing, I am so grateful to work for the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County,” says Meissner. “I get to know such remarkable people. By giving me this award, Leadership South Bend/Mishawaka has generously placed me in the company of many of the people I have most admired. This is an honor I will try to live up to, and one more beautiful blessing to count.”

Meissner joined the Community Foundation in 1992. Under her leadership, the Foundation has grown its assets to $200 million and has returned more than $100 million in grants to our community since inception.

Skilled as a convener, fundraiser, and creative problem solver, Meissner excels at bringing the right people and resources together to address our community’s most pressing challenges and opportunities. Her proactive initiative work in education, arts and culture, health and human services, and community development has changed the place we call “home” for the better—and she continues this game-changing work each day.

As 2020 Distinguished Alumna, Meissner joins an all-star list of previous recipients. Learn more about this award and about the organization that presents it at www.leadershipsbmish.org.
