Riley High School Class of 1991 STEM Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to provide financial support to Riley High School graduates who have been engaged with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Math) fields of study. 

ELIGIBILITY:

Student must be a resident of St. Joseph County who graduates from Riley High School in South Bend, Indiana. Additionally, student must possess a minimum 2.5 GPA (on 4 –point scale or equivalent) and plan to attend an accredited 2- or 4-year public or private institution of higher learning to pursue a full-time course of study. Preference shall be given to underrepresented minority students (defined as Black, Hispanic, etc.) who have shown an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Math. 

AWARD:

This scholarship will provide $1,000 annually, payable at $500 per semester towards tuition and required fees. This scholarship is renewable for up to eight semesters. Renewal will be based on annual review of student progress towards their degree and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. One new award will be given every four years. 

PROCESS:

An eligible student will be chosen based on applications to the Laidig Community Service Scholarship. A top candidate from the Laidig Community Service Scholarship who meets the above eligibility criteria will be selected as the recipient. If criteria are too selective, student will be chosen who most closely matches the criteria. The Community Foundation reserves the right to identify an alternative selection process if, in its judgment, the alternative process would be superior to the Laidig Community Service Scholarship selection process.
